I love Nesci's debut from 2011; his experimental take on electro-industrial (packed with Skinny Puppy'esque vibes) really invigorated a stagnant scene. And if this sophomore album had been released in 2012, maybe it to would have seemed innovative? Today, however, we've already tired of dub-step fueled electro with metal-growling style vocals... It's still complex and somewhat experimental electro-industrial at heart, although the multi-layered texture is now scaled down to allow for a more prominent centre stage for the song (a bit similar to the annoying Greaves of Aesthetic Perfection). I'd even say the music's been a bit "dumbed-down". On a couple of tracks, though, the grating dub-step bass-lines and growling vocals have been sufficiently reined in towards a more classical EBM set-up to allow us to enjoy the heavy sound-scapes. I'd say "Snakeskin Heartbeat" and "Killer Instinct" would be the two tracks most reminiscent to the previous album. Also, Haujobb has in a similar manner re-structured "Strict Command" to a more traditional rhythmic electro-industrial song. I'd say these three tracks are probably the only ones who won't completely throw off Nesci's old faithful Skinny Puppy audience, whereas the rest of the tracks are probably more likely to appeal to "modern" fans of C-lekktor, Cynical Existence and Terrolokaust.
