Brownmark's CD Sampler for an upcoming album that was never released. Includes a single, "It's All About U" and 5 partial songs, all of which were never released. This CD appears to be a promotional CD, but is not stated as such and very well may have been retailed. To the Prince fan, this is a must have! The listener is immediately transported to Minneapolis and the Minneapolis groove as soon as these songs start. The main single is excellent!, very good upbeat R&BGROOVEBEAT, just slips right into what you typically hear from R&B artists with an emphasis on staccato vocals, electronics and beats , then blend in soaring vocals behind that. Technically the sound is perfect and just makes you want to dance. I loved it the first time I heard it and wondered why it was not a big, known hitThe rest of the songs sound like they could be off of Prince Albums, but not quite the same, but you can hear the connection to his being a seminal member of Prince and the Revolution. Track 2 sounds like Prince singing with D'Angelo with a Snoop backbeat. Again, why didn't I already know this from it's being a huge hit. It sounds great! Track 4 is more popish, slowing the beat, seems very familiar as you listen. Very smooth vocals. Track 5 sounds straight off of Purple Rain era. Love it, just wish it was the whole song again.. what a tease! Really makes you appreciate the talent in Prince's history! Track 6 is more like Track 4, slower tempo, talkin' to the Ladies.. and finally Track 7 is more of a straight R&B number, but great beat again and strong vocals. Amazing and teasing album that I am very lucky to have found! As a note- This CD made me start to fully appreciate the enormous volume of work Prince created during his time here on earth. All of the studio time.. all of the recordings.. all of the magic... how good all of the music he was a part of.. and that something like this, some obscure recording that didn't even make it to the public but still has this quality to it.. I think Prince's best work was on it's way and it's just too bad he had to pass B 4 We got 2 listen.. My heart will be broken 4 ever.
